Pizza joints are no new thing. More often than not, they’re attempting to reinvent the wheel. That’s why it’s so refreshing to see places like Fired Pie come to the Valley. What makes them different? There, you have the ability to build your own pizza and salad. Now, that kind of sounds like a normal pizza place right? You pick your own toppings, etc. Fired Pie does it uniquely. You have the option to choose your own type of dough, sauce and over 40 toppings. If you’re feeling indecisive, you can choose a signature pie. How does Fired Pie fair with other pizzerias? We’re not sure. As soon as we try it, we’ll let you know. You can always check it out on your own, though.
Father’s Day is practically here and if you don’t know what you’re doing yet, you really need to step up your game. Fear not, DLT and Humble Pie have your back. Your dad probably likes pizza. Not boring Dominos or some frozen pie from the grocery store. We’re talking real, gourmet pizza. This Sunday, June 16, Humble will provide every dad with free pizza. From 11:00 am to 9:00 pm, free pizza will be offered to dine in fathers at any of the Valley’s six locations.
Our ears perked up too when we heard this. Starting June 4, Grimaldi’s will be offering half priced wine every Tuesday. Whenever you hear about a promotion like this, there’s normally a catch like only between certain hours. Not this time. Grimaldi’s will having this special every Tuesday all day long until the last Tuesday in September. Though, the deal does exclude house wine and sangria. No matter, there’s still plenty to choose from. If you want more information or want to check out the wine menu (and we think you should), click here.
It’s been three years since Pomo Pizzeria Napoletana opened its doors in Scottsdale. But as we all know, change is the only contant. Thus, the pizzeria will be heading downtown. Which is cool, because downtown Phoenix needs to keep growing. Anyway, their new home will be on the historic 1st street. Executive Chef Matteo Schiavone will obviously maintain the quality food items, some of which are imported straight from Italy. Located near the ASU Downtown campus and the Phoenix Public Market, the new location is guaranteed to bring in more business. The downtown location will open its doors on May 28 with a grand opening party on May 31.

The always excellent Grimaldi’s Pizzeria likes to introduce a new pie that’s fitting to the season. Since spring is officially here, Grimaldi’s Prosciutto Pizza will be taking over the menu and our taste buds. It’s a classic white pizza topped with sliced Italian prosciutto, shredded parmesan and fresh arugula. Using the freshest ingredients, handmade mozzarella, “secret recipe” sauce and hand tossed dough, this isn’t your average pizza joint. The new pie debuted on April 1 and on National Garlic Day (April 19), there’s a possibility you’ll be able to enjoy the pizza with some pretty awesome food deals.
The Venue of Scottsdale has announced plans to open a new “back East pizza and beef joint” in the space next door.
Keep It Simple Stupid (K.I.S.S.), a fast-casual concept eatery boasting simple ingredients and classic big city food, is expected to open by late July.
Under the command of chef Anthony Crocenzi, a native of Chicago, the restaurant will feature Chicago and New York style pizzas (whole or by the slice), Italian beef, Italian sausage and New York Italian grinder sandwiches, Chicago dogs and antipasto salads.
Also projected to open in the two-story space adjacent to the venue is V2 Lounge (pronounced “V squared”). Stay tuned for details or visit the K.I.S.S. Facebook page for more information.
