The Weekender: Mule-jito

unnamedWe probably don’t have to remind you what day it is. In case you are wondering, it is our favorite day of the week. With the weekend comes time to relax and have fun. Maybe you want a Moscow Mule. Maybe you want a mojito. Why not both? We’re not crazy, it’s just the Mule-jito, courtesy of the good people at Thirsty Lion.

Ingredients:

4 Fresh Raspberries

1 oz Rum, Bacardi

1 oz Rum, Malibu

Splash of Simple Syrup

Splash of ginger beer

Method:

Muddle raspberries, mint leaves, lemon, lime and ice in a pint. Add the rums and simple syrup. Shake 12-16 times in a shaker. Grab a new pint and add ginger beer. Pour shaken mixture on top of ginger beer. Garnish as you please.

The Weekender: Copper State Mule

Copper State MuleWe’re not going to remind you. You’ve been looking forward to this day all week. That said, let’s get right into The Weekender. Courtesy of our friends at the Salty Sow, they don’t call Arizona the Copper State for no reason. This is the Copper State Mule.

Ingredients:

1 & ½ oz. Vodka

.25 oz. of Fresh Lime Juice

3 oz. Ginger Beer

Lime wedge garnish

Method:

In a shaker glass, combine ice, vodka and lime juice. Shake and pour contents with ice into a copper mug. Fill with ginger beer and add lime wedge garnish.

Crisp, refreshing and perfect for summer, if you haven’t ever tried a Moscow Mule, what better time than now? Plenty of places in the valley will make a great one for you like Kazimierz World Wine Bar in Old Town Scottsdale or The Vig in Arcadia and North Phoenix, but we’ve got a recipe from blog, Teroforma, just in case you want to try your hand at bartending this weekend.

Ingredients (For Six Drinks)

6 ounces of good Vodka
The juice of one lime and lime slices for garnish
3 cups of ginger beer
1 tablespoon of freshly grated ginger
Candied ginger slices (optional)

Preparation

Combine vodka, lime juice and grated ginger in a shaker with ice
Shake well for 30 seconds
Distribute lime slices between glasses along with ice
Pour shaken cocktail into glasses and top with ginger beer – stir
Throw on the candied ginger slices
Cheers.
