With week one down and another fashion-packed three day extravaganza ahead, it’s only right that we highlight our favorite looks from the first round of desert’s most famous music festival. Lots of trends could be seen on the style-conscious crowd and the somewhat unpredictable weather made for a much more interesting mix. While we know Tupac’s hologram was obviously the hottest thing going, you can check out who we declared “fest dressed” in our gallery after the jump after scouring the blogs and fashion sites like Refinery 29, Fashion Toast, Song of Style, Pinterest and BLDG 25. »READ MORE

If you didn’t make little purses out of jean pockets when you were a wee one, then you were probably a normal child playing with Barbies and/or race cars and not dreaming of a successful stint on Project Runway before the show ever existed. Well, now is your chance to get back some of those lost creative years by making your own phone case out of old jeans. It gives a whole new meaning to the term “butt dial.” Check out the step-by-step directions here on BLDG 25 and happy sewing (or gluing if we’re being realistic).
Not that you can really call this heavenly weather we experience “winter”, but the dry climate around these cooler months can really take its toll on the skin. That is why we jumped all over another DIY body scrub to exfoliate away all the dead (skin) of winter. You can get the ingredients at Whole Foods while picking up your weekly groceries and the directions are on BLDG 25 courtesy of blogger, Naomi. Great smells and a cute mason jar presentation, you can give this away as a great New Year gift to all those friends you may have accidentally left off your list. Whoops, at least they’ll remember you….

Thanksgiving is over which means we are officially on the high speed crazy train to Christmas Town and there ain’t no stopping us now. With that in mind, here is another amazing DIY project from BLDG 25 that will having you decking everyone’s halls with handmade cheer. Just pick up some of those clear Christmas bulbs from your local craft store and whatever objects you would like to fill it with to compliment your holiday decor. They used funky feathers and small, plastic woodland creatures to give off that signature whimsy, but the possibilities are endless. We love the idea of stuffing them with tinsel and hanging these bad boys from a wire over a mantel or filling them with family photographs and putting them on your tree to add a personal touch. If you make it happen, send us some pictures! We’d love to see the finished product. Let the countdown begin!
Remember that piece we did a couple moons ago about mullet hems? Of course you do, who could forget such cleverness?, well we have found out how you can get your hands on one for mere pennies compared to the Spring 2012 designer looks and it only requires a small amount of do-it-yourselfedness. Blogger Geneva from A Pair and a Spare did this guest post on BLDG 25 and we are ooing and ahhing at the result. You just need a thrifty maxi or tea length skirt, a pair of scissors, a needle and thread and an iron to make sure everything is smooth and seamless. The directions can be found here along with many helpful pictures. Now you can strut your stylish stuff in a one of a kind piece that could have people saying “who’s that girl?”….in the good way.
Sure, nail art looks cool, but it requires so much time, energy and patience and we just can’t seem to justify throwing that all away for something so temporary. That’s why this incredibly easy and absolutely adorable DIY Nail project from BLDG 25 caught our attention. To achieve the newspaper nail look, all you need is a light base coat, rubbing alcohol, newspaper and a clear top coat. Paint nails with desired color, let dry, soak in alcohol and then press a piece of newspaper over each nail. Cover over with the aforementioned top coat and intrigue people with your Pulitzer Prize worthy fingers. And who says this generation isn’t well read?
As it stands, breakfast is the most important meal of the day in terms of maintaining a healthy weight, but we feel dessert is the most important for mental health. Put the two together and you have the bananas foster french toast (pictured) at Mill Ave’s newest breakfast/lunch joint, Ncounter. Its nifty location right off the Mill Ave. Light Rail stop made it the perfect place for Phx Rail Food to cover and we’re actually motivated to try it. Finally, a trendy place to fill the hangover breakfast void of college
kids girls who used to wander Mill, dehydrated and starved, looking for a decent brunch that wouldn’t require major guilt exercise later. Veggie omelets, grilled wheat germ granola pancakes and a scrabble theme to keep the mind sharp? We’ll roll in around 11. »READ MORE
You may be amazed at how easily this week’s DIY project is accomplished, but we were mostly amazed at how such a simple idea could have such a stinkin’ cute result. The DIY Skirt Shirt from BLDG 25 requires no scissors, glue, hammers or nails nor does it require any time at all. Simply take an old, oversized button-down shirt (boyfriends are good for something), button it half way up from the bottom, step on into it and tie the sleeves around your waist. The possibilities for styling are endless and the chances for coworker coveting are 100%.

We’ve all heard the saying, “take a picture, it will last longer,” but usually the motive behind the words is less than friendly. We are about to change that with the help of the blog BLDG 25 and the amazing instagram photo wall. Rather than obnoxiously posting your every move onto Twitter or Facebook, you can upload them to your instagram account and create this “visual diary” to remind you of your travels and every day experiences. All you need is an instragram account, a piece of white poster board (however big or little) and some glue! Print out your photo memories, tack ‘em on and voila! A beautiful collage of your own making is at your disposal. You can also trade photos with friends to keep it interesting and then show them….in person….what you’ve been up to. What a fabulous concept.
Can we all just stop an “aww” at the ridiculously cute pup pictured to our left?
