Head Over Plates

May 31, 2011 | 7:16 AM | Home & Design | By Pedro Silva

If your home furnishing tastes haven’t quite caught up yet with your sartorial genius, check out these fabulously printed plates from Italy-based home decor company Fornasetti.

Like a finely tuned Ferrari or impeccably-tailored Prada suit, these glossy dining ware fixtures featuring a doughy eyed girl will make even the most lowly of foods look like a million bucks. Look for Fornasetti plates and their entire line of kitschy homewares at Barneys New York and if you just happen to be in Italy, their Milan flagship.

Worth Repeating: DLT’s Paperless Paper Anniversary

May 8, 2011 | 8:24 AM | Events | By Staff

We want you! To come eat and drink and party with the DLT crew. Read on to see how you can win free tix to this invite-only bash hosted tomorrow night in Scottsdale

It’s Monday, which can mean only one thing, right? It’s time to party. Party like it’s your birthday. Party like it’s an invite-only shindig with an open bar (or three) and hosted inside Scottsdale’s most stylish showroom. Then, strut across the street to an exclusive after-party held inside Scottsdale’s most fashion-forward restaurant.

OK, just kidding. Who parties like that on a Monday? Everybody knows that’s more of a Tuesday thing.

Yes, this Tuesday, May 3, is the one-year anniversary of our transition from a print publication to a little web-thingie called Desert Living Today. (It’s a paperless paper anniversary, get it?) And we’re celebrating with a boozy blowout hosted at the super-sharp Design Within Reach studio in Downtown Scottsdale.

Thank you to everyone who made it out, as well as our sponsors (Roka Akor, CRUZ Tequila, Arizona Stonghold Vineyards Su Vino Winery, Fred’s inside Barneys New York, Avant Garden Flowers and DJ William F’ing Reed).

Most important, thank you to our readers. Can’t wait to see you all in 2012.

Chef Todd HendersonRecently, we spent some quality time at Barneys New York inside Scottsdale Fashion Square—all without trying on a single outfit. Yes, we were there to talk food, farming and the joys of room service with Todd Henderson, executive chef at Fred’s Scottsdale. Housed inside a sumptuous space on Barneys second floor, this fine diner is one of only three Fred’s in the nation, including Chicago and the original in Manhattan.

Scoop Factory Scoopstakes: Balloons & Binkley’s

December 14, 2010 | 2:49 PM | Restaurants | By Staff

Scoop up this amazing offer from Scoop Factory:

For decades, Cave Creek was everybody’s fav place to kick back, cowboy up and knock back a few cold ones. Unlike neighboring (and super chichi) Carefree, Cave Creek has always been a jeans and T-shirt sort of place. A charming little tourist trap where you can shop for tchotchkes at The Town Dump (seriously), and then jump into the rodeo ring and ride a live bull (seriously crazy). But times they are a’changing in Cave Creek (RIP Satisfied Frog), and it all has to do with a certain goateed chef with a five-star pedigree and a passion for farm-fresh ingredients.

Scoop Factory continues to throw around the freebies with reckless abandon:

Here at Scoop Factory, we always walk on the sunny side of the street. Which is why we’re happy to report that the Valley’s most recent real estate crash is officially over. Finito. Dunzo. TTFN. Sure, the so-called experts might use fancy figures (and actual facts) to say otherwise, but we have indisputable proof. Real estate developers are back in the party throwing business. We’re talking the sort of lavish, over-the-top shindigs that make us want to party like it’s 2005.
