Artichoke is Always a Good Idea

July 16, 2013 | 12:10 PM | Eat & Drink | By Maxfield Barker

image001Artichoke has always been one of those fun foods to eat. You have your dipping sauce or melted butter scrape the leaves with your teeth. You’re pretty much encouraged to eat with your hands and who doesn’t enjoy that? That’s funny to think about when you consider how expensive they can get. The Thirsty Lion Pub & Grill in Tempe Marketplace just released their Summer Menu featuring the Fresh Grilled Artichoke appetizer. The app is grilled to perfection and is served with roasted garlic herb butter, crispy onion strings and lemon thyme aioli. You best not delay because the artichoke and entire summer menu will only be available through August.

Grilled Cheese Without All the Carbs

July 10, 2013 | 1:24 PM | Eat & Drink | By Maxfield Barker

grllcheeseAh, the grilled cheese sandwich. It’s a staple of American culture. Throw some tomatoes on there and it’s perfect. Though, at Salut Kitchen Bar, they’re not making the grilled cheese you grew up with. They added a whole level of class to the meal. They ditched the bread and grilled it with Halloumi cheese. Halloumi is a worldwide popular, semi-hard cheese made from sheep, goat and cow’s milk. After perfectly grilling the Halloumie, Salut will serve the appetizer with with Fig Schmear, Red Pepper, Poblano Pepper, Onion, Parmesan and Lemon Vinaigrette. You should probably head down to Tempe and try it out.
