Sit On It: Rick Owens Debuts Furniture Collection in LA

Sit on it, if you can afford the hefty price $78,000 price tag for the Boudeuse couch by fashion, now furniture, designer Rick Owens. Owens recently launched a new modern furniture collection for Maxfield in Los Angeles. Mr. Owens tells the New York Times,“Making furniture is my version of couture: it’s time-consuming artisanal work made in limited quantities in rare materials, customized for my favorite client, my better half, the Hun,” referring to his wife, Michele Lamy. Owens’ clothing is also available at Maxfield on Melrose. So let’s see, if you sat on the couch once per day at the $78,000 price tag, each time your tush touched the seat it would cost you $213.69.

Foodies Head West to dineLA

AZ Restaurant Week has come and gone but you can continue to indulge your foodie cravings while escaping the near-record heat with dineLA, October 2-7 and 9-14.

Like AZ’s version of the face-stuffing festivities, there are over 300 restaurants participating in the LA area with specialty priced three coursed meals ranging from $16-28 for lunch and $26-44 for dinner. Their website also has a handy list of hotel options for those ready to head to the coast.

My Los Angeles’s:

Best hotel? Chateau Marmont, SLS and Beverly Wilshire.
Best place for breakfast? Aroma Cafe, The Griddle and Dupars.
Best place for lunch? Aroma Cafe, The Farm, Umami Burger
Best place for dinner? Pace, La Loggia and Kat-su-ya (the original on Ventura).
Best bar/nightspot? Bar Marmont and The Belmont are chill spots to meet for a drink.
Best boutique? Dari.
Best bookshop? Bookstar in Studio City, Borders on Sunset (it’s huge) and the used bookstore in Franklin Village.
Best art gallery? The galleries at the Huntington Gardens and the galleries at the Getty.
Best place for people watching? The Grove, any club and City walk.
Best-kept secret? Forget those fancy sushi restaurants on the Westside…best sushi you’ll ever eat you will find in the valley on Ventura Boulevard! (Not a huge secret though) is the Cardio Barre workout in Studio City…best work out.
