120 Seconds: Rob Schneider

February 17, 2012 | 10:30 AM | 120 Seconds | By Staff

Yes, the hilarious Emmy-nominated comedian, Rob Schneider, from some of our favorite big screen comedies including “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigalo,” “Benchwarmers” and “Grown Ups” with Adam Sandler, Schneider took two minutes to chat with us on his life, the glory of drinking wine and his thoughts on the sequel to “Deuce Bigalow.” See Schneider perform his most recent stand-up comedy act live February 25 at Wild Horse Pass Casino in Chandler. Can’t get enough of the funny man, good news: CBS will begin airing a family comedy based on Schneider’s real-life experiences in 2012.

So here’s how it works, we shoot off random questions, you make it funny and interesting. Ready?

DLT: What’s your favorite thing about Arizona?

Rob Schneider: I love how in February, Arizona mornings are around 70 degrees while most of America is digging out snow and trying to get vitamin D from fish oil!

What’s it like to have your own TV series? It’s a great to have your own show on television. I recommend it to everyone. The hours are good, you get your own dressing room and before taxes it’s a shit-load of money!

Could you sum up your new show in five or less words? Meet Mexican Food Burns Anus!

Do you prefer being on stage or being in front of the camera? I prefer either when it’s going well and neither when it’s going bad!

What’s in your glass at the moment? ( Favorite cocktail, drink?) I like wine because wine is transformative. You could be talking to someone and be bored to tears. But after a couple of glasses of wine you think, “Okay, I’m going to try to have sex with this person!” »READ MORE

Have You Heard of Naked Yoga?

February 14, 2012 | 4:30 PM | LivingWell | By Hannah Hayes

Naked yoga may just sound like a sweatier version of regular yoga, but there’s much more to it than a lack of clothing. Proponents say it helps encourage total physical freedom, including freedom from inhibitions, the opinion of others, self-critical body image, and shame about the body. Down-dog sans yoga pants – sounds hot, right?

Yoga Undressed is a new project from trendsetting yoga/fitness/Pilates expert Jennifer Kriese. The series of four DVDs (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Duet) for women feature a flowing Tantric practice combining Kundalini and Hatha styles. Kriese wants Yoga Undressed to show how to honor the body in its most sacred, natural form and promote an enhanced awareness of and connection to the body. She says seeing and feeling the body as it stretches and moves from one pose to the next results in a more mindful, self-aware practice.

The DVDs will be released in early March and will be available here and on Amazon.

Find Your (Millionaire) Prince Charming

February 14, 2012 | 9:30 AM | News | By Hannah Hayes

Every lady is looking for her prince charming, and if your definition of “prince charming” includes a millionaire’s bank account, then head on down to Dollhouse Cocktail Lounge from 7 to 9 p.m. February 16 for PJ’s Casting Call, an event organized by Phoenix’s Top Dating Coach Joann Cohen and Phoenix Matchmaker Pam Peterson to find beautiful, smart, single women ages 25-35 for several handsome young millionaire clients. Participants will enjoy champagne and strawberries as they find out how the matching process works. If there’s a match for the bachelors at the forefront of the casting call, Pam and Joann will discuss the client with them and potential matches will then complete a profile, photographs and individual interviews. If not, the women may still be matches for other clients.

“We work with successful single men and women looking for their life partners – not dating services,” explains Cohen. While it is one thing to find someone to go on a date with, the matchmakers are looking for smart women with whom their clients can spend the rest of their lives. No trophy wives here – serious ladies only, please!

For more info, call Joann Cohen Coaching at 480-620-1463, Pam and Associates at 602-696-6669 or click here.

Fresh Start Women’s Foundation is not only one of Arizona’s largest non-profit organizations but continues to be one of our city’s most influential charitable institutions. The organization, which aids in the empowerment and success of women from all walks of life through engagement, educational programs, mentorship, counseling, job training and placement, serves around 30,000 women and their families a year and is quickly attaining national recognition – as evident by their partnership with Ralph Lauren, who will give a runway show featuring looks from Spring 2012 for the 2012 Fresh Start Fashion Gala at the Biltmore. Worth Repeating: Happy Valen’Tails Day! Adopt a Dog!

February 12, 2012 | 10:00 AM | News | By Hannah Hayes

As chosen by you, here are the most popular stories of ALL TIME aka last week, just in case you missed them.

Don’t have a Valentine? Don’t feel sad; there are plenty of ways to share your love this holiday. This Valentine’s Day, extend your affection with an E-listed dog, or dogs that are scheduled to be euthanized, at “Happy Valen’Tails,” an unparalleled adoption event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. February 11 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. February 12 at Kiwanis Park in Tempe. Sponsored by Panacea Animal Wellness Sanctuary, Ronnie Lapenson, Animal Advocate and Event Organizer and P.A.W.S (Pound Animals Worth Saving FUR THE CAUSE, Mesa), dogs of all breeds, sizes and ages will be transported from shelters all over the state, with various rescue groups and pet foster parents participating. Dogs will be adoption-ready and excited for a new home, having been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. According to Eva DeCozio-Bush, DVM, co-founder of Panacea Animal Wellness Sanctuary and Medical Director of VCA Animal Hospital of Apache Junction, there will be around “150-200 dogs who were slated to die that weekend, available for adoption.” She explains that while the term euthanasiameans “good death,” this is often not the experience that pound dogs and other shelter animals have. The sponsors of the event wish to educate the public that pound animals are not “the worst of the worst” – that many of them are just abandoned, lost and scared. By adopting a pet from a shelter, the community can save the lives of many homeless animals.

Veterinarians, animal agencies, trainers, and pet sitters will be at the event to meet with the public and discuss any issues. Adoption fees will be $55 per dog; – includes spay/neuter, current vaccines and micro-chip. For more information, click here.

Maricopa County Animal Care & Control is the only agency in Maricopa County that takes in stray dogs as mandated by the State of Arizona. The injured, abused, abandoned, neglected are taken to The Arizona Humane Society as they have a full medical care facility to take care of them.

Just in time for spring shopping, local favorite Scottsdale Jean Company has relocated to The SHOPS at Gainey Village, giving shoppers 8,000 brand-new sq. ft of men’s and women’s designer jeans, tops and casual wear. Celebrating their Grand Opening this Thursday, February 9, the store will also feature the full line of Kiehl’s skin, hair and body care products, a full sunglass shop, a customer lounge area and a children’s playroom.  “It was time for a new home for Scottsdale Jean Company after more than six years at our current location,” says owner Steven Koeppel. “As a destination retail establishment, our customers seek us out for our unbeatable selection and unparalleled customer service, featuring experts trained in finding the right size and style for any body type.” The Company will also soon unveil a new website that will emulate the in-store shopping experience.

Opening in the former Bloom space in January, local restauranteurs Jerry Tingle and Chef Brian Fierstein’s Cask 63 American Eatery & Wine Bar offers eclectic American cuisine, an excellent wine menu and relaxed outdoor seating – great for taking a break between shopping destinations such as furniture showroom Kreiss; handcrafted clothing, accessory and houseware boutique A Cool Breeze, and del Adora, the Valley’s go-to source for luxury linens and bedding.
