Tempe-based jeweler extraordinaire NightRider Jewelry will celebrate the opening of a new store from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. February 8 at Scottsdale Fashion Square. With prices ranging from $300 to $3,000, NightRider jewelry is the brainchild of high-end jewelry expert and artisan George Ganem and Nick and Thad Ballantyne, who put an emphasis on crosses, skulls and other silver handcrafted pieces in their designs. The jewelry, which is 100% American-made, has long been a favorite of the motorcycle crowd but has recently been adopted by Hollywood powerhouses like Alice Cooper, Kenny Chesney and –our personal favorite – Johnny Depp, who wore a NightRider design on the November 2011 cover of Vanity Fair.
“Our customers appreciate the fact that we make all of our products ourselves right here in the Valley, with no outsourcing whatsoever,” said Nick Ballantyne, of NightRider’s exponential growth at a time when so many are being forced to cut back on nonessentials. “Our careful craftsmanship ensures that our pieces hold their value, and that’s a major part of why so many of our customers have come back in time and time again.”
If we can’t order Johnny Depp for Valentine’s Day, we guess we’ll take a piece of his jewelry. Ok…not his actual jewelry. All right…fine. A similar piece will do.

Spoiler altert: Valentine’s Day is a holiday for women. We know, we know, it’s quite a shock, but the flowers, chocolate, diamonds and a night of swoon worthy wining and dining is actually not geared toward men. Pick your jaws up of the floor because it’s time to make this right. Thank Cupid Four Peaks has the answer with a man-worthy V-Day package that’ll get him excited. Beer glasses, batteries and gift card to drink amongst friends at his favorite local brewery? Perfecto. It gets better. You can create your own gift package in your price range that’ll have him wanting to dunk like Blake Griffin. High fives all around, ladies, you just hit the jackpot. Fingers crossed he found that subtle hint on his screensaver, in his inbox and taped to his rearview mirror so you two can koozie up late night on the 14th.

It means every little frat boy (young and old) and club hopping fist pumper will be emerging in daylight hours to drink excessively and set up a$$hole camp at the 16th hole. Gentlemen, don’t be these guys. You are better. You don’t wear argyle socks or graphic tees. Here are a few tips to dressing up that classic t-shirt and making people stop and stare….for the right reasons.

Store your diamond studs, funky costume jewelry and ladylike pearls this season: bling has come down to earth. In muted tones and sharp, natural shapes, the new cocktail ring may look like something you studied in geology class but is no less beautiful and no less bright than any rhinestone band. In fact, showing up in gems such as deep magenta agate, crystal-tipped quartz and sturdy celestial amethyst, these natural-cut appendage accessories prove to have a stunning effect. Taking any simple outfit to a level of natural, earthy allure, we dub these elemental geodes the season’s simplest path to style. Check out our favorites after the jump.
We all have days when dressing even remotely chic feels as large of a burden as our 20-pound handbags. We may own enough party-ready leopard-print jackets, dresses and heels to last us till NYE 2016, but sometimes in the morning it is a fashionable feat to pick out anything that’s not black, gray or stretchy. Thanks to nail artist Zoe Pocock, however, an easy solution to maintaining last weekend’s glamorous get-up is now at our fingertips – literally. In February, UK line of designer nail wraps Nail Rock will be available at CVS in all of its starry, sequined, lacy, chic and animal-print glory. Sound as high-maintenance as your morning routine? Never: the wraps require no heat, waiting or drying time; last up to ten days on the fingers, two weeks on the toes and retail for a whopping $6.99 for sixteen wraps– exactly what lazy busy fashionistas like us want to hear.
Judging by this season’s hottest color – the unapologetically bright, no-holds-barred shade of orange called Tangerine - it looks like it’s time to revamp our very bland makeup routine. Thankfully, we don’t have to go any farther than Glendale, where Zethina of Zethina Cosmetics and Skin Care, who has worked with celebrities like Pink, Lisa Ling and Julie Chen, has created her own mineral cosmetic line free of fillers, binders, parabens and strange additives with names like bismuth and oxychloride. The line now features seven new eye shadows dubbed the Happy Hour collection, in which Zethina has whipped up brilliant shades such as Straight-Up, a light orange; Sparx, a dark orange; Lemon Drop, Julip, Hypnotic, DJ, a purple, and Cosmo – you guessed it, a glaring pink. Not for the faint-hearted, or a new seasonal must-have? Wear with confidence and decide.

Sweet, ladylike and oh-so-retro, the Mary Jane is back and it ain’t her last dance. Stuart Weitzman has created a great cap-toe look in a couple perfectly pastel shades (pictured), but why stop at just one pair? With a reinforcement strap, these shoes are made for more than just walking and may prove useful in a street fight and/or dance off. Just joking around, but there are more options to choose from after the jump just in case. »READ MORE

Global Family Philanthropy’s Pop-Up Charity at Scottsdale Waterfront will continue this weekend’s appearance with special hours today Monday, January 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The charity, which was founded in 2009 by Paradise Valley resident Lori Goldberg to provide basic needs for impoverished children in Haiti, teamed up with Cardinals Safety Adrian Wilson, Youth Against Poverty founder Shawn Esmaili and Scottsdale Waterfront to sell brand new children’s, women’s and men’s athletic shoes from brands like Puma, Converse, Vans, Nike and Adidas at prices as low as $20 – the proceeds of which will benefit a medical clinic in Haiti. “In Haiti,” says Goldberg, “medical care is non-existent, except for the extremely wealthy. When we reach our goal of raising $100,000, we will break ground on a free health care facility that will interface with medical teams from the local hospital.”
Along with Esmaili, Adrian Wilson, who owns High Point Shoes at the Waterfront, donated over 2,500 pairs of shoes. He will appear at the pop-up from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 20 to sign free autographs with every purchase, which are tax deductible.
Miss our interview with Adrian Wilson? Click here.

As mentioned in our trend report this morning, the 90s are officially back. That’s right. Pop in your copy of Clueless for a refresher on Cher and Dionne’s ensemble fashions. Or add just an on trend touch of 90s to a little black dress or a pair of cut off shorts with these $14 floral leggings from Urban Outfitters. Cynthia Rowley showcased floral covered stems at her Spring 2012 runway show in New York this past fall. Now, everything’s is coming up roses in lesser-priced trend stores.
