Arrested Development Season 4 In The Works (Finally!)

July 30, 2012 | 1:00 PM | The Rumorist | By Kara Philp

Mashable is talking about it, The Huffington Post is talking about it and thanks to Twitter it seems as though another season of our beloved show, Arrested Development, is finally in the works.

While a possible season 4 was first announced in late 2011, we’ve heard these rumors before (remember, there was supposed to be a movie too at one point). But this time, thanks to the tweeting of @batemanjason, and show’s central protagonist, and @RealRonHoward, executive producer and narrator, we’re believing what we’re reading this time.

Last week Howard tweeted a shot of Bateman’s script for his character Michael Bluth, then earlier this week Bateman tweeted photos of his son George Michael Bluth (Michael Cerra). Here is the first and second shot that also give us a peek at the set. According to another tweet by Bateman, filming is set to begin mid August.

February 1, 2012 | 1:38 PM | The Rumorist | By Staff

Word has it that Morton’s Steakhouse in Phoenix at the Esplanade will be closing its doors by end of day today (if it hasn’t already). Where can you find a juicy Morton’s Steak in Arizona? Morton’s will still serve the Scottsdale crowd at their Kierland Commons location, per their website. Local carnivores will have to wait until Del Frisco’s Steakhouse Frics Phoenix in the coming months.

The Rumorist: Del Frisco’s to Frisc Phoenix

January 27, 2012 | 2:00 PM | Eat & Drink | By Staff

We just received anonymous pictures from a loyal reader of the Dallas-based restaurant Del Frisco’s renovating the space at the Esplanade where Houston’s bailed. Del Frisco’s is scraping the old interiors to the bone, just like you will be scraping a plate of their 24 oz Prime Porterhouse Steak with Cauliflower & Brie Au Gratin soon. No word on when they’ll be “frisking” Phoenix at the “Do Right & Fear No Man” steakhouse or why they call it that, but sounds exciting, right?!

Speaking of the Esplanade where the DLT office is, any takers for the McCormick & Schmick’s space yet? If you’ve got the inside Scoop, let us know by emailing [email protected] Quality insider tips pay in virtual high-fives and your name as “Staff” on the byline.

The Rumorist: What’s Z’ Problem?

November 30, 2011 | 10:30 AM | Eat & Drink | By Staff

We’ve heard some grumblings from a very reliable source, um…actually just Facebook, that someone is trying to block the new Z Tejas from its impending Phoenix location at 16th Street  & Bethany Home. Here’s what a concerned, local Z’ Tejas margarita lover posted late last night:

To all my friends that live in the neighborhood of 16th and Bethany.. Z Tejas will go in front of the City of Phoenix zoning administrator this Thursday December 1st at a public hearing. A tenant within the same shopping center is attempting to block the Z’Tejas and has gone door to door trying to obtain signatures in opposition. Public comment will be heard at this hearing so we need as many emails in support of Z’Tejas as possible. If you would, please write a brief email stating your support for the project to [email protected] Your email needs to get to the City by 12 noon tomorrow (Wednesday / TODAY).

What have you heard? Are you opposed to  Z’Tejas opening their 5th Arizona location with a rare, full build-out at 16th Street and Bethany? The place is set to have 290 seats with an outdoor patio, opening July 2012, near The Vig Uptown, Luci’s Healthy Marketplace, North and more.

Are you in favor of Chambord margaritas coming to 16th Street and Bethany Home?

The Rumorist: Chick to Finally Hatch

November 17, 2011 | 12:15 PM | Eat & Drink | By Staff

The “Coming Soon” sign has been blocking the entrance to the restaurant next to The Grind on 40th and Camelback Road for months and months. Could it be that Chick -Rotisserie & Wine Bar, from the creators of The Grind in Arcadia, is finally ready to hatch early December?

With a menu set to a variety of rotisserie meats including organic chickens, prime rib, country hams and more, sided by homemade cheddar biscuits, pies, and cobblers, the Arcadia eatery is sure to be a neighborhood favorite. And with meal deals feeding a family of four under $30, the take-out will really take off with the locals.

Adding more fire to this rumor flame, Chick may just be working up a breakfast menu with homemade cinnamon buns, steak-n-eggs and more.

We’ll keep you posted on a firm opening date.

The Rumorist Confirmed: Cathy’s Rum Runs Out

November 4, 2011 | 7:55 AM | The Rumorist | By Staff

We’re not shocked by this week’s confirmation of Cathy’s Rum Cake Caterers officially closing up its cream-filled sweet shop since we’ve been following details of the catty family feud between Momma Cathy’s cakes vs. Daughter Lisa’s knockoff bakery. Nonetheless, we’re still saddened by the AZ Central’s confirmation yesterday that Cathy’s Rum has run out, filing Chapter 7 bankruptcy, “just shy of its 37th birthday.” Read the full report by clicking here.

The Rumorist Confirmed: Curtiss to Fox Restaurants

August 5, 2011 | 11:45 AM | The Rumorist | By Staff

Remember the Rumorist we published last Friday? If not, the full story is below. Well it turns out, we were right! Howard Seftel from the Republic reported today that Curtiss has been hired to take the lead at the new location of North in Arcadia. Yum! Read up on that controversial construction here. Now, if we could just get someone at Fox to call us back…

Published July 29th at 1:43pm

Remember Chris Curtiss? Of course you do, you’ve been missing him at your (weekly) Noca dinners. After his sudden departure from the Noca kitchen last month, we’ve heard he’ll be heading over to Fox Restaurant Concepts. No word on what he’ll be doing there or which kitchen he’ll be manning, but it’s very interesting considering AZ Central was reporting he’d be spending the next two years at Valley non-profit, One Step Beyond. Have info? Let us know.
