Luxe for Less: Shine On

February 16, 2012 | 1:00 PM | Her | By Staff

Spring is nearly in fling and pretty pastels and whites make for lovely Spring evening wear. Of course, adding a touch of shine gives a pale dress a little something extra special for a big date, a fancy charity event or even an at home Oscar Party. The Louis Vuitton version may be a bit too much when prancing around your house, watching your favorite stars on the red carpet with your besties on Sunday, February 26th. However, I think this Ted Baker “Hasse” Sequin Panel dress at just $275 is the perfect everyday runway option for a little bit of lovely this Spring 2012.

Tangerine and shades of bright orange are popping up for Spring / Summer 2012. The Hermes Spring Summer 2012 runway show with new designer Christophe Lemaire featured a hot orange pocket-sized bag against copper and lighter shades of the primary color. We found this Crossbody Structured bag at Forever 21 for just $19.80. But if you’ve got it, flaunt it for the Hermes.

Luxe for Less: Nice Stems

January 12, 2012 | 3:30 PM | Her | By Staff

As mentioned in our trend report this morning, the 90s are officially back. That’s right. Pop in your copy of Clueless for a refresher on Cher and Dionne’s ensemble fashions. Or add just an on trend touch of 90s to a little black dress or a pair of cut off shorts with these $14 floral leggings from Urban Outfitters. Cynthia Rowley showcased floral covered stems at her Spring 2012 runway show in New York this past fall. Now, everything’s is coming up roses in lesser-priced trend stores.

Luxe for Less: Sheer Influence

December 22, 2011 | 4:30 PM | Her | By Staff

Stella McCartney’s sheer influence on her Fall 2011 runway is perfect for our fair weathered winters in Arizona. A sheer top, tucks nicely into a pencil skirt, wears easily over a bathing suit during a tropical holiday or layers under your favorite sleeveless, cropped sweater for a quick wintry wardrobe update. Trade the pricey McCartney look for the Kensie 3-Way Blouse found for $66 dollars on their online shop here.

Luxe for Less: Silver Belts, Silver Belts…

December 8, 2011 | 3:30 PM | Luxe for Less | By Staff

Adding a festive on-trend skinny belt, creates a bit of glamour and of course, a desirable curve in the middle over any bulky sweater, jacket or sweater vest. Cinch in your waist with a wintry, yet sparkly skinny metallic belt like the one from Oscar de la Renta for $195 at Neiman Marcus or opt for the equally glamourous $34 Perfect Skinny Glitter Belt from Ann Taylor, available in the pictured silver and in gold. Though trendy for the season, skinny belts are an incognito way to keep your trousers in place under longer tunics or tops.

Luxe for Less: A Leg Up on Leather Pants

December 1, 2011 | 3:30 PM | Her | By Staff

Roberto Cavalli’s 2012 Spring Collection’s leather pants, not available for purchase yet, will probably rival the cost of a used 1989 Kia. But both the wait and the price tag won’t suffice our need to look sleek and slim in leather while holiday shopping and mingling this season. Get a leg up on the leather pants with the Rich & Skinny “Legacy Leather” faux leather pants from Nordstrom for only $168. Perfectly styled under a tunic sweater or worn under a dress as leggings for a textured look.

The fall Michael Kors runway was all about sophisticated neutrals. According to this beautiful collection, the most glamorous, and current way to wear the camel-colored trend is in head-to-toe ensembles. Since this look would be a bit of an investment, get the look, the wallet-friendly way with our picks. Try pairing this wool-blend double-breasted coat, on sale for $70 and chiffon Dolman-sleeve shirt, also on sale for $19.50, both at Old Navy with these Cafe trousers, $136 at J. Crew. The subtle mixing of tones keeps your look on trend but the sleek lines and classic cuts will continue to be chic for years to come.

Each week, find a luxe look for less with the “laid off and looking good” ladies of Pink Slip Style, making it a must to bring the runway to your everyday.

Kate Bosworth has been photographed wearing her favorite suede Isabel Marant boots time and time again. The pricey $600 boots appear to be her go-to shoes, and she pairs them with everything from casual looks to cocktail ensembles. They’re versatile and seasonless and we have to own them! We’ve been searching for a more wallet friendly version of the Marant boots for years and thankfully, have finally tracked down a decent knock-off that we think everyone will appreciate, for style and rock-bottom price of $34.95 at Old Navy!

As you can tell from a few of our photos, we find it difficult to resist leopard and currently, loafers are our new go-to shoes. With this said, you can only imagine how badly we want/need these Stubbs & Wootton loafers. The needlepoint and animal print combination is ideal but the $400 price point clearly is not. Thank goodness for the Steve Madden version at just $119 from piperlime.com.
