The same way cool, mustache-donning fella who brought us vinyl record wall clocks has crafted felt mustaches for men, women, boys and girls. And, we can’t get enough of ‘em. Choose wisely – face furniture is no joke.

Stache Bash: Still On!
Vinyl Design
Though we love a good DIY project, we don’t recommend doing this at home. Save the handywork for Estonian designer Pavel Sidorenko. Order these fabulous, vinyl decorative pieces here.
Local Writer Takes It To The Stage
But, this isn’t the first time. It’s just the first time we can see her do it in Phoenix. Tania Katan is a Phoenix-based writer/performer, as well as a two-time breast cancer survivor and self-proclaimed ‘cupcake whore’. Now she’s adapted her hilarious, edgy, poignant (oh, and best-selling) memoir My One Night Stand With Cancer into the critically acclaimed one-woman show Saving Tania’s Privates. This story of family, love and - let’s be real here - breasts will make its Phoenix debut at Phoenix Little Theatre on September the 16. More Tania Katan bad-assery after the jump.
C^4 Anniversary Party!
Cave Creek Coffee Company, affectionately dubbed “C^4″ (C-to-the-fourth-power) by us, hosts a three year anniversary event on Friday, August 20. The Svedka Vodka-sponsored evening will boast specialty cocktails, fine cuisine and a live concert by Monte Montgomery.Though we’ve never heard of him, Montgomery was named in the “Top 50 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” by Guitar Player Magazine (shockingly still printing). Oh, and there will be an ice sculpture martini luge. We’re not questioning. Logistics after the jump.
Keepin’ It Pool Posh
The heat is still on, yet fall fashions are coming in. What does this mean for Arizonans? Half price swimwear! Check out designer Nell Love’s Sirène Collection. Treat yourself to something skimpy.
DIY Friday: It’s Alive!
Unlike most little girls, I was serious. I meant business. My first word was “no,” I color-coded my Barbie doll clothes, refused to bathe without bubbles (in Winnie The Pooh character-shaped bottles) and colored in the lines. Thus, I am now trying to strike a balance between work and play; but putting the fun in functional can be a challenge. Thank goodness, Wit and Whistle has found a solution for the uptight of the Valley (or the unjaded children of the uptight of the Valley)! All ya need is a couple packs of googley eyes. Who knew a faucet had so much personality? »READ MORE

Lollapalooza Lookback: Nine Inch Nail’s Phoenix Freakout
Who knew it was even still around? Yes, the 2010 edition of Lollapalooza (the mostly-annual music festivals featuring all things heavy metal, alternative rock, punk rock and hip hop) is set to kick off Friday. In celebration, MTV is digging into its archives for the fest’s most rock-and-roll-crazy moments, including this little gem from the inaugural tour in 1991, when a fresh-faced (and one black tight-wearing?) Trent Reznor traveled to sunny Phoenix, AZ.

Chow Down: This Week In Food Blogs
Eat, Pray, Love, Shop
The countdown has begun. Eat, Pray, Love, Elizabeth Gilbert‘s bestselling memoir, is silver screen ready (and arriving – to a theatre near you – on Friday, August 13).
Hopefully you have a favorite Italian restaurant selected, your friends clearing their schedules and (most importantly) a hankering for the beautiful Julia Roberts. If so, it is high time to think about your evening attire. While whipping this style guide together, we could not help but notice all the vibrant orange. We’ve found Summer 2010′s transition-into-fall color.
Take a look! And, channel Elizabeth Gilbert’s global journey after the jump.
Nobuo at Teeter House
Big foodie news! Chef Nobuo Fukuda’s new restaurant is open for business. Nubuo, formerly of Sea Saw, is now side-by-side with fellow James Beard Award-winner, Chris Bianco. Well, actually just a few steps away inside Phoenix’s Heritage Square. Slideshow after the jump.
Updated: Calling All Hop Heads
SanTan Brewing is a major player in Arizona’s “craft beer industry” and the downtown Chandler microbrewery now joins Four Peaks as the only Valley brewers to offer their craft (homemade) beers in cans! Plus they come with a snazzy orange can holder, reports local food blogger, Jess Harter.
AZ Invades NY
What do you get when you combine three of the nation’s best kept gastronomic secrets? How about AZ’s farm-freshest fruits and veggies, jet-setted to the heart of Manhattan, and then lovingly served at North America’s premier culinary institution, The James Beard House by the Valley’s-own, chef Gregory LaPraddinner. A taste of Quiessence Restaurant‘s star-turn after the jump.
Eddie’s On The Move
Just in time for the restaurant’s tenth anniversary, Eddie V’s at DC Ranch closed yesterday. But, not forever – the famed fish house restaurant is merely moving.

The Hostess Gift
Monday: dinner at the in-laws. Trader Joe’s tulips? Wednesday: birthday lunch at Arcadia Farms. You have no clue what this woman’s interests are (or why the entire office needs to socialize together). Empty-handed? Saturday: baby shower. Fabulous, this one requires two gifts – one for the hostess, one for the mommy-to-be. Giftcards? No, no and no.
Selecting the “right” hostess gift is an art. The fake, supremely awkward “I love it” face is also an art. To shorten the search and prevent the loss of valuable junk drawer space, we’ve created a visual host/ hostess gift guide. Inspiration and pricing after the jump.
Skintastic
In the heat of the Arizona summer, your lightest of garments start to feel like ski gear. Good thing the peek-a-boo fashion trend is in! It allows stylish desert dwellers to utilize geometric cut-outs, strappy detailing and cheeky, lace bodysuits (maybe). Now, with the aid of Neiman Marcus, we can enjoy the same convenient, built-in air conditioning for our feet. Show some skin, ladies.
Memorable Meal: Maine Lobster & Seafood Boil
Created by Executive Chef Russell Skall, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse’s (super secret) ”Memorable Meals” are designed to bring diners back to their favorite dining experiences. Available through August 15 (and only if you ask for it), enjoy a two-person Maine Lobster & Seafood Boil for only $99.
Happy National Cheesecake Day!

Furthermore, TCF will debut its newest cheesecake, Reese’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake Cheesecake (Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups + fudge cake + caramel + cheesecake + graham cracker crust).
DIY Friday: Chanel Nouvelle Vague
Fact: 2010 is all about turquoise (according to Pantone)! Fact: Chanel‘s latest nail lacquer, “Nouvelle Vague,” is somewhere between a beaming turquoise and faded teal. Fact: Inspired by Pantone and Chanel, Nylon Mag has put their color mixing skills to the test to create a budget-friendly duplicate. Fact: We’re obsessed.
Digital Get-Down
Check out this still awesomely 80s re-issue of the original Raised by Wolves and Furni collaboration digital watch. We love the new colors for summer 2010, which look a bit like homemade ice cream.
