120 Seconds: David Tyda

October 4, 2011 | 12:43 PM | 120 Seconds | By John McDonald

On the clock today is David Tyda, co-founder of Affordable Food Festivals, ex editor-in-chief of Desert Living Magazine (that’s us), general bon vivant, fan of downtown Phoenix, taco and bbq expert, and video-clip-making machine.

So David, you know how this works, we start the clock and rapid fire some questions to you, you answer them and bam, we post them up on the interwebs for the world to see and share.  Let’s begin.

You have an upcoming Taco Festival Oct 15th, have you already picked out your outfit?
Have you read about our scuffle with the Nordstrom people over that PUBLIC parking garage?? I’ll probably be wearing something from Neiman Marcus.

Road Report: 2011 Audi A8

August 12, 2010 | 10:11 AM | Home & Design | By John McDonald

Audi A8Here at DLT we love ourselves the four-ringed brand that is Audi. From our pals at CITYist comes this sneak peak at the latest model release. Look for one gliding down Camelback in the near future.

This past weekend I took the 2011 Audi A8 out for a little road test. It’s a serious car that turns up the heat in the luxury sedan market—putting in in the same class as the Mercedes Benz S550 and BMW 750, specifically. It’s a near complete overhaul from 2010—and one can only assume if there is yet another Transporter installment that Jason Statham will be behind the wheel of this ride as well.

Newspaper Cover of The Year

May 22, 2010 | 2:35 PM | News | By John McDonald

I’ve seen a lot of remarkable covers over the years but this might just take the prize for most insane and disturbing.  Take note, the man lived and is said to be fine or as fine as one can be with a hole in his jaw.

UPDATE: This is perfect for parody so here you go a collection of quickly produced parody commercials.

If you are planning a trip to Manhattan anytime soon you might want to check out the latest Trump Hotel in Soho. This is not, I repeat not, your typical Trump design with marble and polish brass everywhere. And the views over the river are going to be off the charts. Thanks to NY Magazine for the tour video.
