Arrested Development Season 4 In The Works (Finally!)

July 30, 2012 | 1:00 PM | The Rumorist | By Kara Philp

Mashable is talking about it, The Huffington Post is talking about it and thanks to Twitter it seems as though another season of our beloved show, Arrested Development, is finally in the works.

While a possible season 4 was first announced in late 2011, we’ve heard these rumors before (remember, there was supposed to be a movie too at one point). But this time, thanks to the tweeting of @batemanjason, and show’s central protagonist, and @RealRonHoward, executive producer and narrator, we’re believing what we’re reading this time.

Last week Howard tweeted a shot of Bateman’s script for his character Michael Bluth, then earlier this week Bateman tweeted photos of his son George Michael Bluth (Michael Cerra). Here is the first and second shot that also give us a peek at the set. According to another tweet by Bateman, filming is set to begin mid August.

We can only hope season 4 will include all the same cast of colorful characters as the first three seasons, which aired from 2003 to 2006 on Fox, because the dysfunction of the Bluth family we know and love just wouldn’t be the same without Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, David Cross, Henry Winkler, Scott Baio or Liza Minnelli.

So, what’s next? Netflix is reportedly licensing 10 new episodes for exclusive release via its streaming video service and it looks as if we’ll have to wait to see them until 2013. Until then, “there’s always money in the banana stand.”
