When you drive down the streets of Old Town Scottsdale – because, let’s be real here, no one is walking anywhere right now – you can see pretty much two things: restaurants and art galleries. The scene becomes quite familiar if you live in the area and it’s easy to fall into a routine of always hitting up the same spots. That’s why when any inkling of a new restaurant pops up, it’s nearly impossible not to take notice…and snoop around like a nutrient deprived Nancy Drew. We are of course talking about the upcoming opening of chef Payton Curry’s Brat Haus, and as it turns out, Old Town’s newest restaurant is not so much of a mystery. In fact, its opening on July 2nd is highly anticipated and has been covered by the likes of Chow Bella, AZ Central and EaterAZ.
The sausage-centered restaurant will be serving up the expected brats, all made in-house or by a local sausage company, as well as burgers, pretzels and french fries. You can also indulge in some “adult milkshakes” and upwards of 20 beers on tap to add to the bevy of choice beverages. The restaurant is stirring up some pretty stupid controversy related to the use of the umlaut in the title and the similarity of its title to that of “Bike Haus”, a bike shop also located in Old Town, according to EaterAZ, but we will have to just wave that off. If you’re confusing a place that serves brats with one that sells bikes, then we think you have a whole different set of issues. All that really matters is that the food tastes good…a detail we can’t wait to find out next week.
