Worth Repeating: St. Patrick’s Day Drink Week: Shamrock Shake

March 18, 2012 | 10:00 AM | Eat & Drink | By Staff

As chosen by you, here are the most popular stories of ALL TIME aka last week, just in case you missed them.

The Shamrock Shake recipe courtesy of Refinery29 this week has us all shook up for St. Patrick’s Day. Exactly the same as Reminiscent of our favorite holiday drink, the Grasshopper, the Shamrock Shake is a creamy blend of our favorite things: ice cream, mint, chocolate and vodka, we’re happy to ditch the corned beef and cabbage and head straight for this dessert cocktail once again this year. If the Shamrock Shake isn’t shaking your tree, try another of this week’s St. Patrick’s Day Drink Recipes:

Baby Irish Stout
St. Paddy’s Girl
Celtic Pride
Apple Mint Martini

1 ¾ c. low-fat vanilla ice cream
¼ c. vanilla vodka (or unflavored vodka + ½ tsp. vanilla extract)
¼ c. Crème de Menthe
½ tbsp. grated dark chocolate + 1 tsp. for topping
A few sprigs of mint

Throw ice cream, vodka and Crème de Menthe in a blender and mix until it’s just evenly combined. Using the handle of a wooden spoon, muddle mint at the bottom of a tall glass. Pour the creamy, green goodness to just below the brim. Stir in chocolate shavings until well incorporated. Sprinkle the remaining chocolate on top.
