120 Seconds: Rob Schneider

February 17, 2012 | 10:30 AM | 120 Seconds | By Staff

Yes, the hilarious Emmy-nominated comedian, Rob Schneider, from some of our favorite big screen comedies including “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigalo,” “Benchwarmers” and “Grown Ups” with Adam Sandler, Schneider took two minutes to chat with us on his life, the glory of drinking wine and his thoughts on the sequel to “Deuce Bigalow.” See Schneider perform his most recent stand-up comedy act live February 25 at Wild Horse Pass Casino in Chandler. Can’t get enough of the funny man, good news: CBS will begin airing a family comedy based on Schneider’s real-life experiences in 2012.

So here’s how it works, we shoot off random questions, you make it funny and interesting. Ready?

DLT: What’s your favorite thing about Arizona?

Rob Schneider: I love how in February, Arizona mornings are around 70 degrees while most of America is digging out snow and trying to get vitamin D from fish oil!

What’s it like to have your own TV series? It’s a great to have your own show on television. I recommend it to everyone. The hours are good, you get your own dressing room and before taxes it’s a shit-load of money!

Could you sum up your new show in five or less words? Meet Mexican Food Burns Anus!

Do you prefer being on stage or being in front of the camera? I prefer either when it’s going well and neither when it’s going bad!

What’s in your glass at the moment? ( Favorite cocktail, drink?) I like wine because wine is transformative. You could be talking to someone and be bored to tears. But after a couple of glasses of wine you think, “Okay, I’m going to try to have sex with this person!”

ASU or UofA? I prefer either of these esteemed higher places of learning. Especially around March or April when good looking female students decide to take a break from all that learning and start letting themselves be photographed naked for the pure entertainment of people like me!

Any favorite spots to eat while you’re in Arizona? I like the restaurant at the spa overlooking Tempe at night. This was obviously a holy area to Indians for hundreds of years and now you can get a decent Caesar Salad there. Also, the best Ruth’s Chris Steak house is in Scottsdale.

Are you a betting man yourself? Slots. poker, blackjack? I prefer to lose my money at black jack. But I like the no brainer aspect to slots. You don’t have to even lower the arm on a slot machine, you just push a button now!  Apparently, this was considered far too tasking physically and mentally.

What has been the most memorable part of your career so far? Getting to travel to different countries and show my movies to people or to perform stand-up for people all over the world. I did 5 sold out shows in India recently!

What music have you been listening to recently? Mostly salsa and tango music. I am currently taking salsa and tango lessons and LOVING IT!!!

Being a comedian, what do you think is funny? I find obvious hypocrisy funny! Overt sarcasm is funny! Watching somebody freak out is funny.

What has been your favorite project you’ve worked on? I like coming up with killer routines for my stand-up best…for now!

iPhone or Android? Stop fighting it! You are all a bunch of cheap Android bastards! Just spend the extra $250 Dollars and get a good phone!

Top 3 favorite movies of all time? Being There, Indiana Jones (The 1st one not the shitty other ones!) The Good The Bad and The Ugly! And Deuce Bigalow was pretty good! ( The 1st one not the shitty sequel!)

Want more of the funny man? Tickets to the February 25 performance start at $30 and can be purchased by clicking here.
