Before your roll your eyes at the thought of another reality show that “fixes” someone’s home, we promise this one is worth watching. This new show brings us everything we love about reality television – a young, stylish and beautiful OCD star, whose perfectionist tendencies has led her to build a successful organizing empire in Style Network’s new show, The Amandas, airing on Monday, January 30 at 8:00 pm ET/PT.
The star of the show, Amanda LeBlanc is a mom, wife, business owner and Hurricane Katrina survivor. Just to give you an idea, when we think of Amanda, we think of the movie “I Don’t Know How She Does It” mixed with Martha Stewart with a sprinkle of Bree Van de Kamp topped with “The Devil Wears Prada.” Intrigued yet?
Amanda, and her trained team of organizers “The Amandas”, change lives and attack client’s projects including NeNe from Housewives of Atlanta, one room at a time. However, dealing with Amanda’s perfectionism isn’t always easy, as you’ll see in each episode. In one scene, Amanda finds a smudge on a window and literally can’t concentrate until it’s gone.
We had the pleasure of getting an exclusive with Style Network star on how to keep our desert digs organized in 2012: You can’t tackle the whole house at once, so where do you want to start? A great way to decide is to think about what space bothers you the most, or the one that affects your family the greatest.
Be Realistic! Getting organized takes time. Don’t try to tackle a whole room in one day! Break your projects down into small manageable tasks.
Create a plan. Think about the steps you need to take in a space. Write out the steps and take great joy in checking each one off your list!
Tell a friend. Doing anything with a partner is always more enjoyable than doing it alone! Ask a friend to help you get organized by being a check-in person or someone to come and help you purge!
And last PURGE, PURGE, PURGE! Let’s face it; you can’t fit 41 gallons of water in a 40 gallon tub! This means that no matter how much you want to be organized, if you have more than will fit in your home, it simply can’t be done. So get rid of the excess and get organized!
