This first weekend of the new year is full of rock and roll. There are plenty of shows to choose from around the Valley, here are a few of our top picks:

1/6 Local supergroup What Laura Says will be playing a pre-party at the McDowell Mountain Music Festival Friday at the Compound Grill. The show starts at 9:00 and costs $5. Click here for more info.

1/6 The Maine with special guests is enough to have any power-pop fan ready to jump at The Clubhouse in Tempe. Doors open at 6:30. Purchase your tickets here.

1/7  Legendary punk band NOFX will be starting mosh pits at the Marquee Theatre this Saturday. Playing with Pulley, Old Man Markley, and The Grim, this show will not disappoint punk lovers of all ages. Doors open at 6:00. Purchase tickets here.

1/7 If Rockabilly is more up your alley… Firebird International Raceway will host the 5 & Diner Rockabilly Bash Car and Bike show Saturday, January 7. With Pat Roberts and the Heymakers, Kenny Love and the Rockerfellers, Rattle Rockin’ Boys, Roy Rapid and the Rhythm Rock Trio, The Hi-Low Boys, The Moonlight Howlers, and DJ El Dedo. The festivities will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased here.

1/8 Finish off the weekend with a celebration of the late and great Elvis Presley. The Musical Instrument Museum will host a celebration in honor of the King’s birthday Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Show is free with museum admission.
