We’re goo-goo for Garces’ two new dining destinations at the recently reopened The Saguaro in Downtown Scottsdale. Iron Chef winner Chef Jose Garces opens two eateries at The Saguaro (previously The Mondrian and The James and Hotel Theodore).
The first, Old Town Whiskey (sounds like a winner to us), is a full bar evocative of an old-time frontier drink parlor, featuring a collection of domestic spirits and artfully crafted cocktails alongside classic American dishes.
Center stage at Old Town Whiskey is the Old Town Burger – an 8 oz burger topped with house-made Thousand Island dressing, Boston bibb lettuce and tomato on a sesame seed bun. Additional burger toppings include: Horseradish-Crab salad, Grafton Cheddar, fried egg, pickled Anaheim Chiles and Truffled Mushrooms. Prices range from $3 – $26.
Old Town Whiskey will “catalogue a library of over 100 varieties of whiskey, bourbon, rye and scotch from Scotland, Canada, Ireland, United States and even a few from Japan.” Eight house cocktails and a carefully selected wines and craft beers round out the list of libations. Old Town Whiskey will be open from 11:00 a.m. until midnight, Sunday through Thursday; and 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Garces Trading Company (GTC) Coffee To-Go serves Chef Garces‘ custom-roasted GTC coffees. Wow! He’s a Chef and a coffee roaster! GTC is a great place to grab a quick cup of joe, French press, espresso or cup of coffee. Or grab a 12 oz. bag of roasted coffee beans, including GTC Reserva, decaffeinated and Formula 1111 Espresso. Open seven days a week from 6:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
The finally, Garces’ Distrito, will open early December. The restaurant itself will be a vibrant celebration of the culture and cuisine of Mexico City, featuring lively, interactive decor and an expansive menu of Chef Garces’ famed small plates and hopefully, their winning tacos.
