Feeling Like a Butterball?

November 7, 2011 | 9:30 AM | Sports | By Claire Hoogenboom

Been feeling like a butterball? Looking for a way to avoid a few post-pumkin’ pie pounds and/or your in-laws this Thanksgiving? Enter the First 3rd Annual Sedona Turkey Trot, November 24th. The scenic 5K run starts and ends at Posse Grounds Park in Sedona, Arizona, Thanksgiving Day from 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Technically, you could still make it back to the Valley for stuffing, toasty Brown’N'Serve dinner rolls and a good ol’ family fight, but kickin’ it in Sedona Thanksgiving weekend, even the exercise part, sounds like a winner to us

Looking for more of a challenge? Opt to trot the “Iron Turkey” way by carrying a frozen or thawed turkey the entire distance of the race.

Race awards going to Top Male and Female Iron Turkey Challengers and Overall Top 3 Males and Top 3 Females in each age group – 19 and under, 20′s, 30′s, 40′s, 50′s, 60′s and 70+. Registration will cost you $30 and an extra $12-ish for the bird Iron Turkey trotters will need, with proceeds being donated to Camp Soaring Eagle.
