Next on the clock is one of our all-time favorite local news anchors, Tara Hitchcock. Fresh from her departure from her morning gig at Ch. 3, she’s hosting the “8th Annual Best Buddies Spirit of Friendship Awards Prom Night” this Friday, October 28th. We chat with the bright-eyed beauty on her senior prom and what’s on the horizon for her.

So here’s how it works. We fire off questions, Tara answers and bam, we post them on the interwebs for the world to see. Let’s begin.

DLT: How long have you been involved with Best Buddies?
Tara Hitchcock: I’ve been involved with Best Buddies for about 8 years now!

Is your house the secret locale for the Best Buddies Prom Night Gala?
That’s why it’s a ‘secret’…also why we have drivers escort our guests to the party.

Where will you be shopping for your prom dress? What trends or style are you looking for – one shoulder, wine colored, red?
I am actually wearing the cheesy turquoise lame’ dress I “designed” (I use that term loosely) for my prom in Plano, Texas!!! Still fits! (DLT: Nice!)

Who did you go to your senior year prom with and where?
I went to prom with friends. My ‘date’ was Will Downs. He was a hottie and a year older, but JUST AS FRIENDS. We ended up at another friend’s lake house after the big night. I had crimped my big Texas hair, so the next morning, I was a sight!

Do you remember the theme or the big song of your senior prom?
I think our song was either Michael Bolton or Bryan Adams. I get homecoming and prom confused.

For your morning news, paper or internet?
My morning is a combo of paper, news and internet

Coffee or Tea?
Coffee…tea…how about a grande skim cafe mocha with extra extra (TWO EXTRAS) whipped cream from Starbucks! It’s usually ready by the time I arrive. I never change my order.

If you were going to Prom again today, what local dinner destination would you pick for your big date?
Probably Tarbell’s. The old staple and the first guest I met on our show 15 years ago. Mark Tarbell also introduced me to my now husband. Assuming the hubby would be my prom date. Otherwise, would be awkward and I would pick another spot. KIDDING!!

What’s your favorite beverage with dinner? Wine or cocktail?
It used to be beer (Mic Ultra), but apparently I have a gluten issue, so now it’s a mojito!

We are sad to hear of your Ch. 3 departure, what’s on the horizon for you?
On the horizon?? Lots of fun and doing the things I do best..live tv and interviews. Stay tuned!
