Have you dreamed of penning your own comic masterpiece (like DLT-fav Batman) but have never made it past the rough-draft phase of your career? If so, help is finally here. Grab your favorite writing tools and head to the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art this Sunday for a self-publishing workshop for hopeful comic artists and writers. Comic fans will also want to attend the SMoCA’s lecture with comic critic Dan Nadel and artist Jon Haddock on Thursday Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. as they “discuss the intersection and divergence of commercial and underground comics, and the place of comics in a museum setting.” The lecture is $5 for the public, free for SMoCA members and also free for those who attend the workshop on Sept. 18.
