If your thumbs are all twiddled out and you are through with watching How I Met Your Mother re-runs, here’s a little project to keep you occupied. Thought up by those crazy creative types over at BLDG 25, this DIY light bulb vase is both simple and yep, you guessed it, whimsical. You just need to gather up some of those out-of-date light bulbs (hello? are we not in the age of LED?), pliers and gardening wire. Read more for the instructions and impress yourself with your use of the three R’s. Your kindergarten teacher would be so proud. Step One: First you need to remove the little silver layer on the bottom of the light bulb. Work the pliers under the layer to create a little lip, and then you should be able to peel it right off with the pliers.
Step Two: Remove the black cap from the bottom of the light bulb. Throw on some safety goggles and be extremely
careful, as it is glass.
Step 3: Pull out the little glass tube and wiring on the inside of the light bulb by tapping it with the pliers.
Step Four: And on the fourth step, BLDG 25 said, “Let there be light bulb vase.” Just add flowers and water, and hang with the gardening wire!
Add a few more to make a lovely little cluster and enjoy the beauty of your hard work.
