The Mix Tape: Mirror Sick Eyes

April 29, 2011 | 3:16 PM | Sound | By Staff

We were going to start this week’s mix tape by asking if you liked music in dozens of languages, but sadly, America’s public education system failed us and our multilingual capabilities went by the wayside after they stopped playing Muzzy videos in kindergarten. The point was that today’s mix is (mostly) going abroad. Foreign songstresses and bilingual bands take center stage after the jump. Oh, and in case you forgot, The McDowell Mountain Music Festival is happening right now so you can get your local music fix while the sounds of far away lands (like Canada) pump through your stereo. Oh Land – Heavy Eyes (Denmark)

Lykke Li – Sadness is a Blessing (Sweden)

Burial, Four Tet and Thom Yorke – Mirror (UK)

Broken Social Scene – World Sick (Canada)

MMMF Bonus

Xavier Rudd – Fortune Teller (Playing  8:30 on Saturday)
