Spring Butterfly Exhibit - Nothing says “spring” like caterpillars crawling out of their cocoons to become beautiful butterflies. Sure, it sounds cliche, but celebrate the new season by fluttering over to Desert Botanical Gardens from now until May 5.
Spring Training – Due to beautiful weather and the work force’s overwhelming desire to ditch work and bask in the equally glorious rays that inexplicably radiate from the perfect combination of beer and baseball, Spring Training is back and better than ever with a new combined D-Backs/Rockies facility to add to the Cactus League mix. Cheap tickets and not-so-cheap beverages await through March 29.
Scottsdale Arts Festival – Live entertainment and an impressive display of art from more than 200 acclaimed artists, the Scottsdale Arts Festival draws ‘em in by the thousands every year. Located on the pristine lawns of the Scottsdale Civic Center Plaza, tickets are also cheap ($7 for Adults, $5 for Students, free for kiddos), but that feeling of betterment that comes with surrounding yourself with artsy people and stepping away from reality TV programing … well that, my friends, is priceless. Check it out March 11-13.
Celebrity Fight Night - Muhummad Ali’s 17th Annual Celebrity Fight Night will take place March 19 at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort. Catch big stars like Halle Berry and Billy Crystal with performances from child singing sensation, Jackie Evancho and Matchbox Twenty all while supporting a very worthy cause: The Muhummad Ali Parkinson Center
St. Patrick’s Day Bash with Flogging Molly – Marquee Theatre presents another ass-kicking concert with Celtic punk rockers, Flogging Molly at Tempe Beach Park. Take part of this tradition by wearing, drinking and thinking “green”.
Bike Week - Riding in on the tail end of March are some badass bikes and the colorful characters who claim them. If you’ve ever pictured yourself cruisin’ down Route 66 in a Harley while everyone around you drools with envy, Arizona Bike Week is for you. Burn rubber at West World March 30 – April 3.
Phoenix Film Festival – Making the final March cut, the Phoenix Film Festival is happening through April 7 at Harkins Scottsdale 101. Celebrate the art of Independent Film with documentaries, animated flicks, feature films and shorts while supporting a great non-profit organization.
