Because it’s Thursday, and because it’s never too early to start thinking (if not drinking) vino, here’s our review of the recent Paso Robles Wine Tasting Event. Actually, here’s Shealyn Campbell’s review of said event. Who’s Shaelyn? Well, she’s the lucky winner of our Wine Critic for A Day Contest, as we offered up our media passes to this wine-fueled fête hosted at the posh El Chorro Lodge in Paradise Valley.
Click read more to how Shaelyn not only managed to stay sober enough to create a zippy write-up, but also invented our fav new expression: quickly-hungering.
“The evening began with the gentleman saying to me and my guest, ‘If you are a winner step right over to this table and I will check your names off the list.’ And then our adventure began. We stepped through the doors and were handed our Paso Robles wine-tasting glasses that we used throughout the evening. The room was already filled with tipsy wine enthusiasts sipping wine at the many tables setup inside the venue.
Outside, the El Chorro chefs were busy making appetizing finger foods such as pork tenderloin sliders and beef short ribs for the quickly-hungering patrons. Back inside, there were robust Malbecs and Cabernets, as well as light Chardonnays; everything to please a wine connoisseur or novice’s palate. Some were aged in oak and a few in steel barrels, and though I wish I could have shared a glass or two with you … here are a few to keep your eye on next time you find yourself in the wine aisle of your local store. Or even better, in Paso Robles!”
