Creating light fixtures from used alcohol consumption vessels is not something we are strangers to here at DLT. (See “Chandelier, Wine Glass.”) This is probably due to the fact that we are avid recyclers and champions of a Greener earth and has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that we really like beer. That said, this Beer Chandelier would look just smashing over any beer pong table, pool table or home bar and it’s really easy to make happen. Again, if “classy” is more your thing, check out that earlier DIY Friday post on how on Wine Glass Chandeliers. If to that idea you thought, “classy schmassy,” then might we suggest you read more to find out how to make your drunken chandelier dreams come true.
Alls you need is an assorted collection of empty beer bottles and a Beer Chandelier kit like those recommended on eHow. It’s important to take into consideration the more variety in your bottle selection, the more interesting your light fixture will look. Basically, this means we are giving our blessing for you to go out and try many eclectic beers with interesting bottles, you know, for the project.
1. Make sure that you clean and dry the bottles adequately so that your living space does not all of the sudden stench like 40 different kinds of stale beer.
2. Follow the directions in the kit and make sure the bottles are secured to avoid any concussion disasters during your regular Monday night poker game.
3. Screw the light bulbs in the center of the chandelier and watch it shine like the top of the Chrysler Building!
4. Find someone tall and sturdy to properly mount it into whichever ceiling light fixture you deem worthy and badda bing, badda boom you are in the beer lighting business.
Sure, if you’re looking for an easy way out, you could always buy one from Barlite.com or Tabby Inc. but where’s the fun in that?
Bottoms up.
