Update: Phoenix Bans Use of Fireworks

December 8, 2010 | 11:34 AM | News | By Lacee Wentworth

Sparklers illegal again in PhoenixSorry pyromaniacs Phoenicians, but if you haven’t got sparklers, ground snakes or smoke bombs fix yet, you’re S.O.L. That’s because the City of Phoenix has opted to override the new law that made fireworks legal in AZ for the first time on December 1.

Yes, those killjoys at the Phoenix City Council voted unanimously last month to keep the city’s prohibition on the use of consumer fireworks (the one’s that don’t explode in the sky) in place. The use of consumer fireworks in Phoenix is now a Class 1 misdemeanor punishable by up to $2,500 in fines and six months in jail.

o yes, those sparklers you just handed out at your son’s birthday party were and still are illegal inside Phoenix city limits despite the new legislation. Seems a little intense, Phoenix.

So what does this mean? On to Scottsdale to blow some bleep up!
