The Weekender: Peach Old Fashioned

The WeekenderThis classic bourbon cocktail isn’t your grandpa’s Old Fashioned. This peachy concoction from Quiessence is just one of their new handcrafted Farmhouse cocktails and is an interesting variant of the classic. With a peach base, one sip and this one’s guaranteed to have you and your tastebuds shouting “Uno Mas!” to the bartender this weekend. Recipe for this bad-boy after the jump!

Ingredients:
1 Bar spoonful of raw Sugar
2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
2 Dashes Peach Bitters
2 Orange slice sections
3 Peach slice sections
1 Bar spoonful of Bark Fruit syrup*(see additional ingredients and prep below)
2 oz Makers Mark 46 Bourbon
Splash Club soda
Mint sprig for garnish

Prep:
Place 1 bar spoon Raw Sugar in bottom of a rocks glass, combine with 2 dashes each of Angostura and Peach bitters. Place Orange sections and Peach sections in glass, and muddle to combine. Add crushed ice. Add 2 oz. Makers Mark 46. Stir gently. Top with Club Soda. Garnish with Mint sprig.

*Bark Fruit Syrup

Ingredients:
4 cups Water
4 cups Sugar
1 pound Ginger (peeled and fine chop)
½ cup Cardamom pods
3 whole Cloves
2 Cinnamon sticks
½ tablespoon Cayenne pepper

Prep:
Put the ginger, cardamom, cloves and cinnamon sticks in a pan of simmering water. Reduce heat slightly, and let cook for 15 minutes. Put heat on very low and add sugar stirring constantly till it is completely dissolved. Cook on very low heat for 30 to 40 minutes making sure the mixture does not burn. Strain and cool. Add Peach and Orange sections (Fruit should soak 12 hours).
