Past Forward

Part retro fashion show, part cocktail party, and 100 percent fab, Valley Vintage-A Fashion Experience is a can’t miss for local fashionistas. Designed from head to toe to create a true 1950s experience, this fashion fête will feature a red-carpet runway show, throwback live entertainment and even retro eats and cocktails. Hosted at Scottsdale’s Mid-Century Modern masterpiece, the Hotel Valley Ho on Friday, October 29, it all kicks off with a 6 pm cocktail reception, followed by a 7:30 pm narrated fashion show featuring Ford/Robert Black Models.

Speaking of the famed modeling-agency-owner-turned-couture-boutique-king, Robert Black will be dressing the models for both the day and evening wear portion of the show. And unlike most ‘retro’ runway shows, Valley Vintage will showcase actual Mid-Century designer pieces, not modern representations of classic couture, and will include pieces from the legendary Hollywood designers who dressed Marilyn Monroe. Bringing it back to the future, local swimwear designer, Monique Fagre will also be unveiling a new collection of hand-sewn swimwear specifically designed for the event.

Keeping the party rolling, LA-based The Martini Kings will be on-hand to provide the perfect combination of retro classics, jazzy standards and hip bossa novas. Tix can be purchased here starting at $50 for general admission, and topping out at $250 for the full VIP treatment, including access to the pre-party and front row seats at the fashion show. Most important, Valley Vintage has coordinated a clothing drive to go along with the event. The event is cash-bar only, so don’t forget to bring an article of clothing to donate in exchange for a free cocktail voucher. Also, a portion of the tix proceeds will be donated to the Florence Crittenton Foundation whose mission is to give every girl whose life they touch safety, hope and opportunity.
