Love the retro styles featured in our “Past Forward” piece on the upcoming Valley Vintage fashion experience? Meet the photographer who put the modern in Mid-Century Modern after the jump.

Working out of a pair of side-by-side studios in central Scottsdale, photographer Harrison Hurwitz, and the graphic artists at SeeSaw Designs are happily swimming against the stream. Longtime Valley shutterbug, Hurwirtz specializes in intricate yet intimate portraits captured on this ancient technology called film (pictured). Meanwhile, his new studio mates at SeeSaw combine cutting-edge graphic design—and a quirky blog—with centuries-old printing technology. Long revered by stationary snobs, SeeSaw’s antique letterpress creates hand-fed prints where you can actually feel each bold, colorful ink impression.
