Coming to the Quarter

October 19, 2010 | 2:17 PM | News | By Anna Bussert

Scottsdale QuarterAs the Scottsdale Quarter continues its seemingly endless yet awe-inspiring expansion, we felt a retail/restaurant rundown would be appropriate. Covering all 28 upcoming openings might turn into a novel and there’s nothing wrong with a good read but we’re going to keep this short (ish) and sweet, showcasing some of our personal faves.

Press Latte ArtPress Coffee

Press Coffee was a dream come true for local owner, Steve Kraus, when the doors first opened in 2008 at CityNorth. Offering a variety of wines, beers and food in addition to their house roasted coffee, Press has a little something to tempt the taste buds of every passerby. Further setting themselves apart from the coffee-house crowd, Press hosts a variety of events from wine and beer tastings, “coffee cuppings,” live music and live painting to barista throw-downs and trunk shows. The most unusually awesome of these events, however, is “Yappy Hour,” where guests are invited to bring their dogs to Press’ dog-friendly patio while they chow down on a 3-course meal.

minibarbershop logominibar.ber.shop

For men across the Valley, this may be the greatest thing since Monday Night Football. Minibarbershop offers more than your ordinary shave and shear. Whether for a special occasion or just the regular cut, men are able to shop, drink and eat while getting all spiffied up. $20 haircuts and $2 beers, always! Need we say more? So uh, question… when will there be a sassy chic (and affordable) salon like this for us women? We’ll keep you posted.

Kitty

kitty logoNo, it has nothing to do with cats (thank goodness).  Kitty is a brand new boutique for women of all ages created by former owner of the Biltmore’s “Nicole Morast Accessories, 2442 Sport and Brave New World.” Adorned with something for all ages, Kitty will be a one-stop shop for that birthday party in five minutes or a self-appreciation present after a rough week at work (everyone deserves one once in a while). Also, Kitty is conveniently located right next to the minibarbershop and when you spend $100 or more you can pick up complimentary drinks next door at the “minibar” while you wait for your gifts to be wrapped (and maybe even pick up a hot date).

Gold Class CinemasIPic Theaters

Movies, meet first class dining. IPic will allow movie-goers to purchase tickets and pick their own seats online prior to their movie and, rather than waiting in line forever, enjoy cocktails and food off the full course menu in the lounge. No more scratching and clawing your way through the heard to the middle section with the rail so you can put your feet up. No, this high class theater offers guests reclinable plush seats with a call button to order dinner, drinks, a blanket or a pillow throughout the movie. Wowzers.
