SouthBridge Shakeup

So it’s official. The Estate House is out and The Herb Box is in at SouthBridge, the posh shopping and dining center in the heart of Downtown Scottsdale. According to a press release, “The Herb Box signed a lease agreement Oct. 10 for the Estate House space, where it will open a restaurant, market and catering business. The market is expected to open by Thanksgiving with the full restaurant opening in early 2011.”

Founded in 1995 as a gourmet catering company, the demand was so great that the owners added a standalone cafe and market in 2007 inside Market Street at DC Ranch in North Scottsdale. Which probably explains why they have no problem moving into SouthBridge Scottsdale, as that somewhat troubled project has nothing on the cricket-collecting, DC Ranch development, a cool-looking strip mall best described as the place good restaurants go to die. Just ask Aaron May (Sol Y Sombra, AutoStrada) and Peter Kasperski (Star Spangled Tavern and Barouque lounge), not to mention Blue Wasabi, San Felipe Cantina, Eddie V’s
