Valley Millionaires Doing Just Fine, Thank You

September 30, 2010 | 8:38 AM | People | By Frank Johnson

Lot’s of rich people news lately. First came the report that five Valley residents make the Forbes 400 Wealthiest Americans list. Now comes word that AZ’s home to 17,000-plus millionaires, or almost 10K more than last year.

According to the annual report by Phoenix Marketing International (located, ironically, in upstate New York) there are now 17,094 millionaires in AZ, or 4.8 percent of the state’s 2.46 million households. Which according to the Phoenix Business Journal, ranks AZ 21st in percentage of millionaires nationwide.

So which state is home to the most millionaires per capita? Not surprisingly, Hawaii is number one for the second year in a row, followed by Maryland, New Jersey and Connecticut. Meanwhile, Mississippi is bringing up the rear, with only 3.2 percent of population making the cut. Which is shocking, because we didn’t know Brett Farve had that many relatives.
