As we get ‘Gleek-ed’ up for the return of “Glee,” we’ve bringing back this Q&A with everybody’s fav cheerleader and former ASU student, Heather Morris (aka Brittany).
While in town for the launch of Glee Live, Heather Morris, aka the dippy cheerleader, Brittany, took a few minutes to swap some one liners with us. As ASU’s favorite drop-out and a former back-up dancer for Beyonce, Morris dished about her lack of party skills, as well as preserving her perfect make-out record when she smooched a local youngin. Interview after the jump.
So you’re an ASU alum; tell us about your experience there?
I actually only attended ASU for two semesters from Fall 2005 to Spring 2006. After that I headed to LA straight away. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I loved college! Very much actually. But the college experience itself? Wasn’t for me at the time. I didn’t live in campus, or party LOL, so I didn’t really feel in tune with the whole ‘college experience.’ It’s just one of those things you know is not right for you. I belonged with dancing, Los Angeles, entertainment, everything and all of it.
The “Glee” cast was spotted hanging out together on Mill Ave, so you guys are obviously close. Are there any offscreen “power couples?”
“Power couples” Ha. I think Naya and I are a pretty powerful duo on and off set to be honest. She’s my best friend and I think we both have such an amazing respect for one another. It’s inspiring.
Are you excited about the tour? Glee has been rumored to use auto-tune, are you nervous about switching to a live performance format?
Oh we’re all so excited about the tour! It’s come together very fast which is a good thing. If we were given more time it probably would’ve made us all too nervous. As a former back-up dancer for Beyonce, who (is) by far one of the most outstanding live performers in the world, I know I’m working with professional singers when we went on stage last night for our first performance and not one artist was off! It was magical.
You’re our favorite character—with your witty one liners, you’re definitely quote-able. Are these scripted or are you always that funny?
Oh gosh, the pressure’s on now! LOL. I come up with some things Brit says and does but I must give it up to the writers, they give me some amazing material to work with. I just have to deliver it!
Glee fans are pretty insane. Any crazy stories with fans that you’d like to share?
I have yet to encounter any of those crazies! I did however really enjoy the fan signing outside after the show last night. That was cool to experience. I felt like a Backstreet Boy…even though I’m a girl? My favorite part though was when a little boy asked for a hug. I gave him a kiss on the cheek instead in hopes that I could make his night. A little cheesy but don’t judge!
No judgment here, Heather. Although, considering Brittany doesn’t even know how to turn on a computer, she’ll probably never read this.
If you missed Glee Live in Phoenix, they’ll be in LA from May 20-22. Definitely worth the road trip, and at least you’ll have some excellent tunes to shamelessly sing along to.
