They never get old. We thought they were yesterday at about 4 p.m. but then we saw Martha Stewart endorsing them. If Martha says they’re chic, we know they’re chic. A guide to your perfect ‘stache after the jump!
Tools and Materials:
Wire hanger, wire cutters and pliers, seam binding, fabric glue, mustache templates, chipboard, craft knife, quarter yard of fake fur (don’t hate on the reddish-blonde), scissors, hair paste, toothbrush, hair spray.
How-To:
Using wire cutters, create an L-shape from a wire hanger. Twist seam binding around wire all the way to the end. Glue end of seam binding in place with fabric glue. Print mustache templates from Martha Dearest and trace onto chipboard. Cut mustache shape from chipboard. Next, glue hanger piece onto chipboard mustache. Squeeze fabric glue onto the side of the chipboard mustache where the wire is attached. Place mustache (glue side down) onto the back of a piece of fake fur, sandwiching the wire between the fur and the chipboard. Place a heavy object on top and allow to dry for 10 minutes. Trim fake fur around mustache shape. Cut only through the supporting weave of the fake fur and brush off excess fibers. Use hair paste and a toothbrush to fabulously style the mustache. And, last, set with hair spray!
Take a photo of yourself holding your creation up to your septum with old-school elegance and hipster pride and we might post it on DLT. Go big or go home, folks.
