Memorable Meal: Maine Lobster & Seafood Boil

August 2, 2010 | 8:51 AM | Restaurants | By Meghan Luther

Created by Executive Chef Russell Skall, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse’s (super secret) ”Memorable Meals” are designed to bring diners back to their favorite dining experiences. Available through August 15 (and only if you ask for it), enjoy a two-person Maine Lobster & Seafood Boil for only $99.

Inspired by the spirit of a chilly, New England coast picnic, Chef Skall’s creation is built around fresh Maine lobster. However, that’s just the beginning of this feast which also includes Manila clams, mussels, shrimp, corn on the cob, potatoes and andouille sausage – all cooked in a delicious stock. This dish is served in a bowl with freshly baked buttermilk drop biscuits and a coleslaw salad with fresh tomatoes and sliced mozzarella tossed with apple cider vinaigrette. The beachy, summertime dessert: a fruit cobbler of fresh peaches and dried cranberries.

Coming from New England, I’m not sure I’d trust a chef from Wisconsin that has worked only in the west cooking a Maine Lobster & Seafood boil – especially when he throws an adouille saugsage in the pot?? Most tradtional newenglanders do not know what an andouille sausage is – they would never put that in their seafood boil!
