Soleri Spans Scottsdale

Opening this fall, the Soleri Bridge is a massive, pedestrian-only walkway that will connect the trendy Scottsdale Waterfront neighborhood with the city’s Art Gallery district located just south across Arizona Canal. Designed by the 91-year-old futurist architect/bell maker, Paolo Soleri, now that the span is in place (see vid), work can begin on two 64-foot-high pylons that will mark seasonal solar events, such as the equinox and solstice, by generating a light beam across the bridge’s surface.
