Yet another local crime story that seems to have slipped under the radar screen. Even better, this one is like a real life version of that super-romantic Sandra Bullock movie, “Speed 2: Cruise Control” “The Proposal.”

In this case, the role of Ryan Reynolds is played by Jeffrey Goble, 23, while the role of Sandra Bullock is played by Alma Numic, a 28-year-old Bosnian woman. Turns out the happy couple, who exchanged blissful wedding vows in June 2008 in Grand Forks, ND, were, just like Ryan and Sandra, trying to pull a fast one.

Turns out, the two had not met until shortly before getting married, and did not live as a couple after the wedding. That’s because Goble has admitted to Federal prosecutors that he was paid $15,000 to get married to Numic to help secure her U.S. citizenship. Goble, who is being allowed to live with his father in Arizona until sentencing on Sept. 3, faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Numic, meanwhile, has been returned to Bosnia and has not been charged in the case.

But if Hollywood has taught us anything, these two crazy kids will soon learn they can’t live without one another. By the final act, they will spot each other from across a crowded airport terminal, and fall into a loving embrace to the sounds of a perky new Ke$ha hit. So long as the bus doesn’t explode after slipping below 55 mph.
