Tiki-Tastic Happy Hours

Happy Wednesday everybody. Now that we’re finally chugging downhill towards the weekend, our thoughts have turned to our favorite part of the day. Yes, we’re thinking happy hour. But not just any happy hour. We’re talking about an island getaway filled with tropical tidbits and frosty tipples—all served at prices not seen since the 1950s.

Say ‘Ahoy’ to Trader Vic’s in Scottsdale, where you can savor 1950s pricing seven days a week, from 4 – 6 pm and again between 9 – 11 pm. Hosted inside the sleek indoor-outdoor bar area, the Trader’s new happy hour features $1 roasted garlic hummus with pita bread and $2 Chinese pork sliders. However, we suggest shelling out an additional George Washington for the corn-fried rock shrimp, seared Hawaiian walu or a Chinese-oven-roasted Maui burger topped with bok choy slaw and served with sweet potato fries—all a steal at $3 each. That said, no visit with Vic would be complete without sampling some of his handcrafted, rum-filled libations. Monday through Wednesday only, enjoy 14 different drinks for $6 each, including favs such as the Navy Grog, Mai Tai and the aptly-named Suffering Bastard. (Southwest corner of Indian School and 69th St., 480-421-7799)

Finally, if you’re looking to get happy with the whole office, you might want to check out Drift Polynesian Restaurant & Tiki Bar. Also located in Old Town Scottsdale, this wacky beach hut offers $8 pitchers of beer and $15 pupu pupu platters every Wednesday through Friday from 4 – 7 pm. (4341 N. 75th St., 480-949-8454)
