Recently, the arts world was all atwitter that First Friday was going on hiatus over the summer. The confusion started when the AZ Republic reported, and various media outlets (ahem) joined in to say that the popular arts festival is scaling back in July and August as the founders work to make its location more light-rail friendly.
However, the organizers have been getting the word out today (including the comment board on our original story) emphasizing that the art exhibits and other events will still be held as scheduled. It’s only the pedestrian-only tourist trap vendor strip along Roosevelt Ave that will be temporarily shuttered. Now if we could just put the summer heat on hiatus.
