Dine Well (All Year)

June 21, 2010 | 11:56 AM | Food | By Meghan Luther

Dearest Valley newlyweds and fiscally-responsible foodies, we know it can be a struggle to feed your caviar taste on a cup o’ noodles budget. Which is why we were so excited to discover this new cookbook by Phoenix resident, Jaclyn Douma. Named Our First Year, it contains a 75 savory recipes specifically designed with young couples in mind.

As a newlywed herself, Jaclyn knew she wanted to organize a book with helpful tips, party suggestions and many of her favorite recipes for couples who cannot necessarily afford (or make) Julia Child’s Boeuf Bourguignon. Invest here.

Post Script: Contrary to what the extremely progressive image suggests, we do expect that couples will (try to) cook together… Perhaps in less formal attire sweats.

I received the Our First Year Cookbook as a gift from my mom and absolutely LOVE it! My husband and I just celebrated our 1 year anniversary in May and this is the perfect cookbook for newlyweds, couples or young adults. I especially love all of the little tidbits of information inside such as party planning ideas, cooking tips and gift ideas. :)

Great cookbook for retired empty-nesters too. Inexpensive and easy meals are always welcomed.

I’m not a big fan of being in the kitchen, I’m more of a “on-the-run, pop my dinner in the microwave for 4-minutes, and I’m done” kinda girl. But this cookbook has come into use more than I thought it would! It is sooo easy and helpful to those who are not “familiar” with the kichen and cooking!
