A Promise To Keep

June 17, 2010 | 1:26 PM | Travel | By Meghan Luther

Are you a bride-to-be looking for the perfect desert setting for your upcoming nuptials? Well, The Boulders Resort and Golden Door Spa has a ‘promise’ for you. Introducing Promise Rock, an uber-romantic outdoor wedding venue, hidden among the resort’s namesake 12-million-year-old granite formations.

Promise Rock premiered this May for couples entering one of life’s most central unions – marriage. The quaint entrance of Promise Rock is marked with a welcoming gate (constructed with natural latillas, or “little sticks”) and adorned with blossoming rosebush vines. The Boulders’ commissioned rock art – a couple holding hands (forming the shape of a heart) – reminds the viewer of ancient petroglyphs and enhances the intimate landscaping (including a his and hers saguaro cacti overlooking the venue). The wedding site itself is elevated 2,288 feet above the ground level, providing watercolor pink sunset views and sun-splashed panoramas of the valleys below.

See more at the photo gallery below, including images from the resort’s Organic Garden, a lovely space for intimate events and inspired herb and vegetable picking.
