Grab the kiddies because the Children’s Museum of Phoenix has a way-cool new attraction. Opening this Friday, the Schuff-Perini Climber is a three-story play structure constructed of 50 tons of steel (which in kid-friendly terms is equal to 80,000 basketballs, 10 adult elephants, 400,000 apples or 5.35 million yellow chick Peeps.)Located in the center of the museum’s Atrium floor, The Climber rises 37 feet to the 3rd floor ceiling. Along with a series of tubes, stairs and 981 individual pieces, The Climber boasts a Toddler Treehouse, a Flying Bathtub, a Recycled Rocket (made from car parts), a Dream Boat and bottle cap creations made by museum patrons! In the works since the museum opened its doors in June 2008, The Climber is finally ready for a little playtime.
