PHX New Times Losing Edge?

April 28, 2010 | 4:24 PM | Restaurants | By Staff

Famed for gleefully skewering anyone and everyone, the Phoenix New Times went all mushy on us today.

Writing about the downtown Phoenix ghost town that is, Alice Cooper’stown, they called it a “winning formula.” Um, OK. Sure the foods pretty edible for a sports bar owned by a creaky old shock rocker, but last time we checked, this place was as empty as the abandoned condo projects that were supposed to revitalize downtown.

Which makes it even more inexplicable that Trip Advisor recently named Cooper’stown one of America’s Top 10 Celebrity Owned Restaurants. Frankly, we’d rather go across the street to Marjerle’s, where were pretty sure they served as an Entenmann’s cake straight out of the box for dessert. But at least we didn’t have to eat it to sound of chirping crickets.
